Step Into the Story: Three Little Pigs
September 18, 2026 | 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Experience a familiar fairy tale through imaginative play inspired by 17th-century Maryland. This interactive program uses movement, storytelling, and hands-on activities to introduce young learners to aspects of colonial life while reinforcing age-appropriate social and listening skills.

Participants use imaginative play, movement, and storytelling to experience colonial Maryland. Through a retelling of The Three Little Pigs, students compare early Maryland life with today while reinforcing skills like truth‑telling, kindness, rule‑following, sharing, and cooperation.

Activities introduce concepts such as immigration, planting, foodways, animal care, economy, and environment. Kids engage in movement‑based tasks—courtesies, jumping, dancing, hoeing mounds, and rolling a hogshead—while acting out the story.

The program takes place outdoors on uneven terrain at the Tobacco Plantation. Expect hands‑on activities that may involve soil and varied textures. Weather may affect scheduling. Registration opens August 3.

Ages 3–5.
$5 / $3 members. Includes museum admission. One adult free.

Program takes place outdoors on uneven terrain and includes hands-on activities with natural materials. May be cancelled due to inclement weather.
