    DIRECTIONS

    Historic St. Mary’s City is located off Route 5 in Southern Maryland. Travel time is less than two hours from Washington, D.C. and Annapolis and less than three hours from Richmond and Baltimore. The physical address for our Visitor Center, where you will check in is: 18751 Hogaboom Lane, Lexington Park, MD 20653.

    From Annapolis

    Follow Maryland Route 2 south until it merges with Maryland Route 4. Then follow Route 4 for about 20 miles and cross the large bridge at Solomons, to the first traffic light, at the intersection of Maryland Route 235 and Route 4. To avoid congestion at Lexington Park, continue on Route 4 for 6 miles until it ends at the intersection of Route 5. Turn left onto Rt.5, travel south about 14 miles. Upon entering St. Mary’s City, you will travel past the river, college, and reconstructed Brick Chapel. Turn right onto Rosecroft, and first right onto Hogaboom Lane. Park in the Visitor Center’s parking lot.

    From Washington, D.C.

    Follow Pennsylvania Avenue (Maryland Route 4) southeast from the Capitol Beltway for about 60 miles. At Solomons, continue across large bridge over the Patuxent River, to the first traffic light at the intersection of Route 4 and Route 235. To avoid congestion at Lexington Park, continue on Route 4 for 6 miles until it ends at the intersection of Route 5. Turn left onto Route 5, travel south about 14 miles. Upon entering St. Mary’s City, you will travel past the river, college, and reconstructed Brick Chapel. Turn right onto Rosecroft, and first right onto Hogaboom Lane. Park in the Visitor’s Center parking lot.

    From Baltimore, MD

    Follow Interstate 97 South towards the Bay Bridge until it ends at U.S. Routes 50 and 301. Follow Route 301 South towards Richmond. Take exit for Maryland Route 4 South, towards Prince Frederick. Continue on to Solomons, continue across large bridge over the Patuxent River, to traffic light at intersection of Route 4 and Route 235. To avoid congestion at Lexington Park, continue on Route 4 for 6 miles until it ends at the intersection of Route 5. Turn left onto Route 5, travel south about 14 miles. Upon entering St. Mary’s City, you will travel past the river, college, and reconstructed Brick Chapel. Turn right onto Rosecroft, and first right onto Hogaboom Lane. Park in the Visitor’s Center parking lot.

    From Northern Virginia

    Take the Beltway over the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and to Route 5 South. Follow Route 5 through Leonardtown and continue for approximately 20 miles until you reach St. Mary’s City. Upon entering St. Mary’s City, you will travel past the river, college, and reconstructed Brick Chapel. Turn right onto Rosecroft, and first right onto Hogaboom Lane. Park in the Visitor Center’s parking lot.

    From Richmond, VA

    From I-95 North towards Washington, merge onto VA-207E via Exit 104 towards U.S. Route 301/Bowling Green/Fort A.P. Hill. VA-207E will become U.S. Route 301 once you enter into Maryland. After crossing the Harry Nice Bridge at Dahlgren go right at the 2nd traffic light onto Route 234 South (Budds Creek Road). Route 234 will merge with Route 5, travel on through Leonardtown and continue for approximately 20 miles until you reach St. Mary’s City. Upon entering St. Mary’s City, you will travel past the river, college, and reconstructed Brick Chapel. Turn right onto Rosecroft, and first right onto Hogaboom Lane. Park in the Visitor Center’s parking lot.
