The St. John's Site Museum will close at 1:00 p.m. on June 26, 2026, due to the closure of College Drive for the River Concert at St. Mary's College of Maryland.

The Struggle for Freedom exhibit has reopened to visitors Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Our maritime exhibit, Maryland Dove, is away from home port, transiting to and participating in Sail 250 Maryland & Airshow Baltimore in Baltimore, Maryland.

Trails

Stroll through lush green spaces, find your peace along the serene St. Mary’s River, or bird watch along the 3.5 miles of trails on Historic St. Mary’s City property.

The trail does not allow for motorized vehicles or bicycles, and can be rough terrain for strollers or wheelchairs. Leashed dogs are welcome on the trail, but due to safety issues they are not allowed on the plantation site.

Discover a secluded beach spot by taking an ADA accessible boardwalk trail at Chancellor’s Point. Also available at Chancellor’s is a boat ramp, picnic facilities, and campsites. Those interested in camping may find more information here.
