Sharol Buck

Director of Communications

Sharol Buck is the Director of Communications with Historic St. Mary’s City (HSMC). Sharol moved to this area after working for more than fifteen years with a Baltimore-based touring children’s theater.  Originally hired by HSMC as a museum guide, Ms. Buck was eventually promoted to manage public programs as well as group tours. In programs, she was part of the collaborative team to create the Adults Only tours, winning an AASLH Award of Excellence and the Historic Preservation Award for Excellence in Public Programming from the Maryland Historical Trust. Moving from education into marketing, she served as External Communications, earning back-to-back social media awards from the Maryland Tourism Coalition for her work.

Sharol holds a B.A. in Theater from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.  Her background in theater has transitioned into the museum world, with her passion for storytelling being used to tell the many complex stories of those who inhabited the space that is now known as Historic St. Mary’s City.
