Joi started working at HSMC as one of the town center interpreters before moving into her position of Volunteer and Intern Coordinator.  

Joi moved to St. Mary’s County, Maryland from Pennsylvania in 2004.  She received her Bachelor of Arts with a major in Art from St. Mary’s College of Maryland and has showcased her work around the county, including at the Unified Committee for Afro-American Contributions, (UCAC) in Lexington Park, Maryland.

Joi is a certified Montessori Infant and Toddler Guide, receiving her certification through the American Montessori Society.  She has practiced this methodology in St. Mary’s and Charles Counties, and Washington, D.C.
