Overview

Visitors ages 60 and older enjoy FREE admission on the first Thursday of each month. Enter through the Visitor Center for tickets and orientation materials.

Senior Thursdays Add-On Tours ($5.00 per person age 6 and older, per tour):

Sign up and pay at the admissions desk.

Ghost Frame Walking Tour (12:00 p.m.)
This guided tour discusses interesting facts about the structures on the first capital’s landscape we call “ghost frames.” Space is limited.
Meet at Van Sweringen’s picnic area
Approximately 45 minutes duration

Changing Landscapes Tour (12:30 p.m.)
Visit Mill Field, where evidence of both Native occupation and St. Mary’s Fort has been documented. Through the tour, guests will gain an understanding of how these two groups interacted with each other, over the course of the 17th century. Space is limited.
Meet at Van Sweringen’s picnic area
Approximately 60 minutes duration

Calvert House Behind-the-Ropes Tour (2:00 p.m.)
Experience a behind-the-scenes archaeology tour at the Calvert House dig site. A costumed interpreter will give an introduction to the site, and an archaeologist will invite visitors to see the dig and what they have discovered.
Meet at Calvert Archaeological Site
Approximately 45 minutes duration
