Spend the day learning one of the oldest known technologies—transforming rawhide into usable material.
Join the staff of the Woodland Indian Hamlet for a hands-on workshop introducing the basics of hide tanning. This workshop draws inspiration from a variety of traditional and experimental methods to explore how deer hides might have been processed. Participants will use both modern and reproduction tools to work through the essential steps of tanning.
Perfect for those interested in primitive skills, historical lifeways, or hands-on experiences, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to connect with the past in a meaningful and tactile way. All materials provided. Space is limited—register early!
