A Ceremony of Return – A Reinterment of Those Unearthed at the Brick Chapel
Join Historic St. Mary’s City for a significant moment in the region’s history as we commemorate the return and reinterment of individuals once buried at the Brick Chapel. These people, uncovered during archaeological investigations prior to the Brick Chapel Exhibit’s construction, have provided invaluable stories about early Maryland. Now they are being respectfully returned to their original resting place.
The ceremony will honor the lives of these early Marylanders and the historical legacy of the Brick Chapel—an enduring symbol of Maryland’s experiment in liberty of conscience. Following the ceremony, guests are invited to a light reception.
