The Struggle for Freedom exhibit will be closed for renovations beginning November 4, 2024.
Maryland Dove will be closed to the public on Saturday, August 2, 2025, as it serves as the finish line for the Governor's Cup Yacht Race.
Due to the anticipated heat index, the outdoor living history exhibits will close at 2:00 p.m. on July 25, 2025. The Visitor Center and the Museum Shop will remain open until 4:00 p.m.
Maryland Dove will be sailing out by Church Point in the St. Mary’s River from around 5—7 p.m. on Friday, July 29. The ship will then be anchored as the finish line of the annual Governors Cup Yacht Race from sunset on Friday until later afternoon on Saturday, July 30.
As Maryland Dove will be anchored out, the tall ship will not be available for museum visitors to tour on Saturday but will be back at home and open on Sunday, July 31. (Operating hours of museum, 10 a.m.—4 p.m.)
