November 28 & 29, 2025 | 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Included with admission | Bring a non-perishable food item or a personal care product donation to the museum and receive $1 off admission.

Close out the museum season with warmth, food, and history during Hearth & Home, the final open weekend of 2025 at Historic St. Mary’s City.

Stroll through the scenic museum landscape and experience the aromas and sights of the past as interpreters prepare seasonal dishes inspired by the lifeways of 17th-century English colonists and Indigenous peoples. From the crackling hearths to the stories behind the meals, this event invites you to slow down, savor the season, and take home a complimentary recipe booklet to continue the experience in your own kitchen.

All food demonstrations are for educational purposes only and not for consumption.

In the spirit of sharing, visitors who bring a nonperishable food item or personal care product to donate will receive $1 off admission. All donations will support a local food bank, providing assistance to community members affected by the ongoing furlough and potential loss of SNAP benefits. Suggested items include canned goods, pasta, peanut butter, toiletries, and hygiene products. Maryland Food Bank offers a detailed list of suggested items.

All food prepared at our living history sites is for demonstration purposes only.
