This fall, demonstrations and hands-on opportunities involve the three branches of science:
Earth science: the study of Earth and its physical components. Discover the mystery of Smith’s Ordinary at Town Center, and learn how the soil has been able to tell us stories. Navigate your way to the waterfront, to view how sailors used early technology to travel the world.
Life science: the study of living organisms. Visit our newest colonists, three Ossabaw Island piglets, at the Godiah Spray Tobacco Plantation. Learn about the life and culture of the Yaocomaco at the Woodland Indian Hamlet.
Physical science: the study of inanimate natural objects, including chemistry and physics. Drop in at the Plantation to see timed demonstrations of Galileo’s falling objects experiment, and Newton’s Law of Gravity. Visit the Woodland Indian Hamlet to learn about the chemistry of fire.
$5 per child age 5 and older; one accompanying adult free; $10 each additional adult; reduced rates for Friends members of the museum. Registration recommended, but not required.
